Free maths and computing challenge practice
Try maths reasoning and Bebras-style computing puzzles, then explore more free school practice and the World Explorer adventure.
What is Challenges practice?
Homework Magic Challenges is a free place to practise original maths problems inspired by mathematical challenges and computing-thinking questions inspired by Bebras-style activities. It is a practice tool, not an official UKMT or UK Bebras competition site.
Maths reasoning challenges
Try number patterns, geometry, factors, logical deduction and multi-step problem-solving. Find a question suitable for your current level and work through a solution.
Computing and Bebras-style challenges
Practise following instructions, visual patterns, loops, sorting and if-then rules. The aim is to develop computational thinking, not to write computer code.
Personal progress
Review answers and progress in your private learning account. Where supported, short challenges can help build confidence before attempting an official competition.
Free questions and optional AI explanations
Original practice and supported automatic marking are free. Explain Why and other AI-generated explanations may require Homework Magic Plus (or a plan that includes it). The free question sets are not dependent on AI chat.
How do World Explorer and Challenges fit together?
Children can also explore the world as they practise: World Explorer unlocks virtual countries, animals and landmarks after every five eligible completed questions, regardless of accuracy. The academic subject does not choose the destination. World Explorer credit integration varies by practice mode, so do not assume every Challenge attempt currently adds travel credits.
How to start
- Open Challenges and choose Maths reasoning or computing thinking.
- Pick an age-appropriate practice activity.
- Try the questions, check supported answers and look back at mistakes.
- For travel rewards, choose an eligible online practice flow and visit World Explorer to see your discoveries.
Frequently asked questions
Can children practise UKMT-style maths questions for free?
Yes. Homework Magic offers free original maths reasoning practice. It is not an official UKMT past-paper collection.
What is Bebras-style computing practice?
It builds computational thinking with logic, sequences, patterns and instructions, without requiring children to write programming code.
Does Homework Magic organise official UKMT or UK Bebras competitions?
No. Homework Magic provides independent practice and is not affiliated with or endorsed by those organisers.
Do Challenge answers have to be correct to unlock World Explorer?
World Explorer counts eligible genuinely completed practice questions regardless of correctness, but not all specialist Challenge flows currently have travel-credit integration.
Do I need paid AI to practise Challenges?
No. Core original challenge practice is free. Optional AI-generated explanations may require an eligible plan.
